Midnight Mania! Watch Pimblett Shatter Wing Eating Record

by Site Admin ~ September 18th, 2024

Bringing you the weird and wild from the world of MMA each and every weeknight!

Welcome to Midnight Mania!

Paddy Pimblett is a well-known eater who loves to gain an incredible amount of weight in between fights. His current layoff is no different, as the rising UFC lightweight contender has broken a chicken wing eating record earlier this week.

Pimblett, who is one of the most popular European fighters on the UFC roster today, is coming off a tremendous submission win over Bobby Green at UFC 304 this past July. The victory pushed “The Baddy” to 6-0 inside of the Octagon and finally gave him enough to break into the top 15 in one of the toughest divisions in the sport. He’ll look to make a run at the top 10 the next time he fights.

Before that, Pimblett is free to enjoy his time off and enjoying it he is. The lightweight fighter is infatuated with food and rarely isn’t seeing stuffing his face with something he probably shouldn’t be. This week, Pimblett released a video on his YouTube channel showing off a record-setting night at his favorite restaurant. “Baddy” shattered the chicken win record by eating 47 in total and then downing it with some dessert.

Check out the carnage in the above player.

UFC 306 at Riyadh Season Noche UFC

Hosed and exposed.

Sean O’Malley coughed up his bantamweight crown to Merab Dvalishvili in the UFC 306 pay-per-view (PPV) main event last weekend at The Sphere in Las Vegas, because “Suga” had no answer for “The Machine’s” wrestling-based offense.

As predicted.

But former UFC bantamweight champion Henry Cejudo, who also got dominated by Dvalishvili when they went to war at UFC 298, insists O’Malley was never going to pan out as champion and may have gotten lucky against Aljamain Sterling at UFC 292.

“What can I say? I predicted these things,” Cejudo said on his Pound 4 Pound podcast (transcribed by MMA Junkie). “Sean is not accustomed to going five rounds, and he is not accustomed to people on his legs, and I just felt like — I still go back and say, ‘Hey, that fight with Aljamain Sterling, that was a fluke too.’ Aljamain was still in that fight, and people thought I was just hating. No, I’ve been in there with Merab. I did a whole lot better than Sean did when I fought Merab. I mean, I took down Merab. Like, Merab is lucky that I had that groin injury.”

The Cejudo camp claims this injury is to blame for his Dvalishvili loss.

“Merab was lucky that I was hurt in that fight,” Cejudo continued. “Moving forward, if Sean O’Malley is willing and wants to fight this troll who’s the true king of Arizona, well then here I am. But if not, I’m making my way back down to 125 pounds because I’m not going to waste my time. I personally would love to fight him. I think with all the trolling that we have done to each other, we both live in the same city, but I just don’t think that he’s going to want to fight me particularly right after this performance that Merab did to him.”

O’Malley is expected to be out of action until late 2025, according to this statement.

Merab Boots O’Malley From P4P Top 10

by Site Admin ~ September 17th, 2024

UFC 306 at Riyadh Season Noche UFC: O’Malley v Dvalishvili

The latest UFC rankings update has been published … and it’s more bad news for Sean O’Malley fans.

Suga State Athletic Commission may be able to overturn Merab’s win over Sean O’Malley, but it can’t keep the former 135-pound champion in the pound-for-pound (P4P) Top 10 after last weekend’s UFC 306 pay-per-view (PPV) event at The Sphere in Las Vegas.

Newly-crowned bantamweight titleholder, Merab Dvalishvili, debuted at No. 7 on the P4P chart, sending O’Malley tumbling down to No. 13. Elsewhere in the rankings, Diego Lopes climbed 10 spots at featherweight with his UFC 306 victory over Brian Ortega.

Norma Dumont also cracked the Top 5 at bantamweight by slicing and dicing Irene Aldana.

Here’s how UFC compiles its official rankings:

Rankings were generated by a voting panel made up of media members. The media members were asked to vote for who they feel are the top fighters in the UFC by weight-class and pound-for-pound. A fighter is only eligible to be voted on if they are in active status in the UFC. A fighter can appear in more than one weight division at a time. The champion and interim champion are considered to be in the top positions of their respective divisions and therefore are not eligible for voting by weight-class. However, the champions can be voted on for the pound-for-pound rankings.

Take a look at what the latest rankings field looks like courtesy of UFC.com. Note: (+/- = movement in rankings, T = tie, *NR = Not previously ranked).

Midnight Mania! O’Malley Out For More Than A Year?

by Site Admin ~ September 17th, 2024

UFC 306 at Riyadh Season Noche UFC: O’Malley v Dvalishvili

Bringing you the weird and wild from the world of MMA each and every weeknight!

Welcome to Midnight Mania!

Sean O’Malley may have “reversed his loss” at UFC 306 to a win, but in reality he relinquished his UFC bantamweight title to Merab Dvalishvili on the greatest stage in combat sports.

That is a hard pill to swallow, especially for one of the biggest stars in the sport today. After all, O’Malley was fresh off a massive knockout win over Aljamain Sterling to claim the 135-pound title one year ago before defending it against Marlon Vera this past March. “Suga” was riding high and another milestone away from reaching Conor McGregor.

Unfortunately, O’Malley couldn’t stop Merab at Noche UFC and ended up losing his title from inside the Sphere. It was a large step back for the UFC superstar and a loss that could sideline O’Malley for well over a year. That’s according to the former champ himself.

“I probably won’t fight for 9 months, 10 months. Maybe a year. It’s gonna be a while,” said O’Malley via his YouTube channel.

“People are gonna have to watch the UFC without the Suga Show for a little bit.”

Volk Vs. Lopes Interim Title Tilt? ‘You Never Know’

by Site Admin ~ September 16th, 2024

UFC 305 Ceremonial Weigh-in

Alexander Volkanovski is seeking two-time Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) status.

The last two fights for Australia’s “Great” did not have positive results. First suffering a first round head kick knockout loss in his rematch against Lightweight champion, Islam Makhachev (watch highlights), Volkanovski then lost his Featherweight title in defense to the undefeated Ilia Topuria (watch highlights).

As one of the greatest champions in UFC history, especially at Featherweight, Volkanovski believes he deserves an instant shot back at the title he held since December 2019. However, Topuria is currently tied up with Volkanovski’s old rival, Max Holloway, who he’ll defend against at UFC 308 next month (Sat., Oct. 26, 2024). Diego Lopes has since emerged as the clear possible next contender, winning his fifth straight with a unanimous decision over two-time title challenger, Brian Ortega, at UFC 306 this past weekend (Sept. 14, 2024).

“Lopes — massive win. Both two top dudes. I like both of them, so whoever was going to win, I was going to be happy for,” Volkanovski said on his YouTube channel (h/t MMA Junkie). “Lopes is right up there now. I’m guessing he’ll be ranked [No.] 3.

“Obviously, my next fight is for the title, depending on what happens,” he continued. “Are there injuries in the Max and Ilia fight? Who knows what’s going to happen. Could there be an interim with someone like Lopes? You never know, so we’ll see what happens.”

Regardless of how things shake out at Featherweight, Volkanovski is adamant he’ll be fighting for a title when he returns to the Octagon.

“My next fight is for the title,” Volkanovski said. “But if they can’t do that soon enough, say if Max wins, is he going to go to lightweight and do BMF? Is there going to be an interim fight? I haven’t had them proper discussions, so I’ll get back to the UFC and have a proper chat with them. All I know is that my next fight is for the title.”

Ready when you are, Sergeant Pembry.

Norma Dumont treated Irene Aldana like a Kleenex at a snot party — but that didn’t stop the Mexican bantamweight from finishing her “Prelims” fight at the UFC 306 pay-per-view (PPV) event last weekend at The Sphere in Las Vegas.

Not surprisingly, Aldana was rushed to a nearby hospital.

“It was amazing to be part of this event, Noche UFC,” Aldana wrote on social media. “I’m just fine. Thank you all for your support and love. Recovered and ready for the next one.”

I think we may have different definitions of the word “ready.”

Aldana, 36, dropped to 15-8 with her loss to Dumont, leaving her with a 3-3 record across her last six. In addition, the “Immortal” Brazilian is likely to steal Aldana’s spot in the Top 5 of the women’s bantamweight rankings when the “official” update is posted later this week.

Jake Paul Goes Full Dementus, Sneaks Into UFC 306

by Site Admin ~ September 16th, 2024

Jake Paul is banned from UFC events … or so he claims.

But “El Gallo” wanted to attend the UFC 306 pay-per-view (PPV) card on Sept. 14 at The Sphere to support his friend and business partner, Sean O’Malley, who joined forces with Paul to market “W” body care products that “leave you feeling fresh and smooth.”

The result was an ugly cosplay that resembled a 90’s grunge version of Dementus.

“Two years ago I was banned from all UFC events by Dana White,” Paul said on social media. “If I’m gonna illegally sneak in, I need a disguise, and a good one. I needed to see [O’Malley] get that ‘W’ in person. I’m risking going to jail if I get caught. This is insane!”

O’Malley lost his bantamweight title to Merab Dvalishvili after five rounds of action.

Fortunately for those folks who still want to see Paul fight Mike Tyson in November, his UFC 306 stunt was successful and “El Gallo” did not, in fact, go to jail. He did, however, go to the Cowboys-Saints game on Sunday at AT&T Stadium to mean mug “Iron Mike.”
