On Saturday, UFC bantamweight champion Sean O’Malley had some lunch and went home to play video games and begin a live stream.  An hour or so in, police arrived at O’Malley’s home with guns drawn.

It turns out O’Malley was ‘swatted’ by a fellow gamer.  Someone called the authorities and falsely reported a horrific crime and gave the police O’Malley’s address.

“About an hour and a half in I saw a f**king cop fly down my road.  I feel like instantly I kind of knew because I’ve heard about like the big, big streamers getting swatted,” O’Malley explained on his YouTube channel.  “People find out where they’re at and called the cops and say something happened that obviously didn’t happen and they’re f**king getting swatted.

“I peak out my head out the window to see the cops.  Maybe it’s something else.  But then they’re on the intercom and I see a bunch of cops and they’re like, ‘walk out with your hands up.’  So I f**king walk out, hands up.  I was like, I’m just going listen.  I could get shot.  You know what I mean?  Like, sh*t.  I was like, okay, if I just listen to them I’ll be alright, but you never know.  Someone sneezes and pulls the trigger.  I’ve got f**king shotguns pointed at me, ARs from like four different cops pointed at me.”

O’Malley had in fact been swatted.  Someone called the police and told them that O’Malley had murdered his parents and was armed inside the home.

“They said I killed my parents, or something like that.  They thought there was an active shooter inside,” O’Malley said.  “Someone called the cops and told them there was an active shooter inside and two dead people in the house.”

“I wish we could find that little weasel that called.  They can’t find him.  They don’t have an address.  It was crazy.”

UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones is expected to return to action in November at Madison Square Garden against former two-time titleholder Stipe Miocic.

Jones captured the heavyweight title at UFC 295 in March 2023 by making quick work of former interim titleholder Ciryl Gane.  Heading into the fight, Jones had been out of action for more than three years, and he hasn’t fought since.

While preparing to face Miocic at UFC at UFC 295 last November, Jones tore a pectoral tendon that effectively put the heavyweight division in limbo.  The fight promotion opted to rebook the match upon Jones’ return.

Former two-division champion Daniel Cormier has fought Jones twice and Miocic three times.  Extremely familiar with both men, Cormier warned Jones about overlooking Miocic.

“If I’m Jones, I’m definitely fighting Stipe Miocic for 15 million dollars,” Cormier said on his YouTube channel.  “He said Stipe is old.  It sounds like Jon Jones is wanting to fight the highest grossing fight with the least amount of risk.

“I will warn you this, don’t overlook Stipe Moicic,” Cormier continued.  “He is a f**king killer, and if you overlook him he will put you out.  He’s just that good.  42, 35, 31, 38, it don’t matter.  Miocic is going to show up.”

In Jones’ absence, Tom Aspinall was crowned the interim heavyweight champion.  He’s booked to defend the interim belt against Curtis Blaydes at UFC 304 on July 27.

Former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson and influencer-turned-boxer Jake Paul are set to fight in a professional boxing match on July 20 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.  The event will air on Netflix for free and will likely set viewership records.

Boxing Hall of Famer and former coach of Mike Tyson, Teddy Atlas, gave his thoughts on the matchup while in Saudi Arabia for the the Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk undisputed heavyweight showdown.

“What do I make of it?  Let’s see, let me think for a minute.  You don’t have to be a genius to figure this one out, that he’s (Tyson) getting paid a lot of money,” Atlas told Boxing King Media. “We don’t know what’s real yet until we find out.”

“I don’t know if it’s real.  I know that Jake Paul has worked very hard to learn boxing and has been very smart about doing it.  He’s very smart; you have to give him credit,” Atlas continued.  “And I know, even at 58, or whatever age it is now, I know that the one thing that doesn’t go away from a fighter – I know it better than anyone because a man, a very special man named George Foreman at 45-years of age beat my fighter – because the one thing that doesn’t disappear is power.

“Reflexes, they go away.  Speed, it disintegrates a little bit and deteriorates a little bit.  But Power, no, it stays.  Tyson still has power.  He still, you can see he’s still got quickness.  He’s got those quick-twitch muscles where he’s still got muscle memory.  He was one of the great heavyweights,” Atlas said.  “I would say this, if it’s real, the first couple of rounds are going to be very dangerous for Jake Paul.  The first couple of round with Tyson, the way that he would come out and do wha the normally does which is make you miss and create an opening.  He still has the power to do real, serious damage.”

Paul is coming off a first-round knockout win over Ryan Bourland in his last outing.  He’s 9-1 in his professional boxing career, but hasn’t faced anyone that has the resume of “Iron Mike.”  Tyson last fought in November 2020.  He faced Roy Jones Jr. in an exhibition bout. The fight went the distance and was ruled a draw.
