Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC) held “Knucklemania IV” on Saturday at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. “King Of Violence” Mike Perry faced long-time rival and UFC veteran Thiago Alves in the main event.

Both men entered Saturday’s bout undefeated in BKFC.  Perry had won his four fights with the promotion including winning his last two with finishes.  Alves had won his first two fights with the promotion including winning the middleweight championship in his last BKFC match in June 2021.  He was later stripped of the title when he contract with the organization expired.  Back with the promotion, Alves was looking to pick up where he left off three years ago.  

The fight did not last long.  It took Perry one minute to dispatch of the former UFC welterweight title challenger.  

Perry pressed forward at the start of the the bell.  He went to the body with a right hand while both men missed with hooks.  Alves connected with a job followed by a right hand but Perry continued to press the action.  He walked Alves down and landed a right hand along the ropes of the circular ring.  Alves responded with a winging right hand that missed.  

Perry again pressed forward and landed a right hand.  A followup left hook to the jaw sent Alves crashing to the canvas.  He got to a knee before standing on the count of nine.  As he stood, Alves stumbled.  The referee evaluated him and after a second stagger, the referee stopped the fight.  

With the win, Perry advanced his BKFC record to 5-0.  He’s finished his last three opponents.

Following the UFC Vegas 91 event, the big winners will field questions from the media during the post-fight press conference.  The event took place a the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.  

The fight card was headlined by flyweight match between fifth-ranked Matheus Nicolau and eighth-ranked Alex Perez.

After a week off, the UFC is back in action this weekend.  The UFC Apex in Las Vegas hosts tonight’s UFC Vegas 91 event.  

The fight card is headlined by flyweight match between fifth-ranked Matheus Nicolau and eighth-ranked Alex Perez. Nicolau (19-3-1) had a six-fight winning streak snapped in his last outing, losing to Brandon Royval a year ago. Perez (24-8) has lost his last three fights in a row and is in desperate need of a win.

On Thursday, the fight promotion held the event’s pre-fight press conference.  After the question and answer session, the fighters faced off with their opponents ahead of Saturday’s fights.

Former two-time UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez appeared in court on Wednesday with his lawyer Renee Hessling requesting a continuance for his attempted murder trial.  Judge Elizabeth Peterson denied the continuance motion and set the trial date for September 9.  

Velasquez was arrested in February 2022 after allegedly chasing a vehicle containing Harry Goularte, a man accused of sexually assaulting Velasquez’ son at a daycare owned by Goularte’s family.  During the incident, Velasquez allegedly rammed the vehicle before pulling along side it and firing shots through the window.  He missed his intended target and instead shot Goularte’s step father, Paul Bender.  Bender suffered non-life threatening injuries.  

Goularte had been arrested and released on bond prior to the alleged car chase and shooting.  He was charged with one count of lewd acts with a child, among other charges.  

Next, Velasquez will appear in court on June 26 for a trial readiness hearing.  Velasquez plead not guilty to the charges which include attempted murder.  The attempted murder charge alone carries a minimum 20-year sentence or up to life in prison if convicted. 

Velasquez held the UFC heavyweight championship twice during his 13-year mixed martial arts career.  He last fought in February 2019, losing to Francis Ngannou by knockout at UFC on ESPN 1.  Velasquez announced his retirement from MMA on October 11, 2019.
