Jose Aldo set to fight Mario Bautista in return at UFC 307 in Salt Lake City

Former undisputed featherweight champion, Jose Aldo is set to make his second outing of the year since his Octagon return, taking on bantamweight contender, Mario Bautista at UFC 307 in October at the Delta Center in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Aldo, a fan-favorite veteran and inaugural UFC featherweight champion, made his return to mixed martial arts at UFC 301 back in May in his native Brazil, landing a one-sided unanimous decision win over Jonathan Martinez – in the final fight on his deal.

As for Bautista, the current number twelve ranked bantamweight contender is currently in the midst of an impressive six-fight winning spree in the Octagon, most recently beating Ricky Simon in a unanimous decision effort at UFC Vegas 84 back in January.

News of Jose Aldo’s return to action against Mario Bautista at UFC 307 was first reported by Brazilian outlet, AgFight.

Making his return to action on home soil at UFC 301 earlier this year, Manaus striking veteran, Aldo made good on his comeback to mixed martial arts with a decision win over the above-mentioned, Martinez.

Aldo, an inductee into the promotion’s Hall of Fame, made his return to action following a two-year layoff – following a prior decision defeat against incoming Noche UFC headliner and title challenger, Merab Dvalishvili.

Terence Crawford and Israel Madrimov were all about business during a pre-fight press conference just days away from their boxing match in Los Angeles.

The fighters shared an intense and stoic faceoff ahead of their fight, although both athletes remained respectful during the customary stare down. While Crawford is the smaller fighter on paper, he actually looked just as big if not bigger than his opponent when they came face-to-face.

While it is Crawford who is moving up in weight to challenge for Madrimov’s WBA super welterweight title, it’s “Bud” who sits as the overwhelming favorite to win. Odds on Crawford are at 7-to-1 that he’ll accomplish his goal to win a title in another weight class after already conquering championships across multiple divisions.

Many rank Crawford as the top pound-for-pound boxer in the world with a perfect 40-0 record, which includes his one sided drubbing of Errol Spence Jr. in his last outing back in July 2023. Now over a year later, Crawford returns with hopes to add another belt to his growing collection.

As for Madrimov, the 29-year-old fighter comes into the matchup with far less experience than Crawford with only a 10-0-1 record in his career. Back in March, Madrimov claimed the WBA title with a fifth round knockout over Magomed Kurbanov.

Now Madrimov seeks the biggest win of his career while also pulling off a massive upset when he faces Crawford on Saturday night from the BMO Stadium in Los Angeles with the card airing on DAZN pay-per-view as well as PPV.com and other outlets where pay-per-view is available.

After upset at the Olympics, Jake Paul has presented a huge opportunity to Angela Carini.

Carini fought all her life to put her in a position to represent her country on the grandest stage. The boxer proudly carried her Italian heritage into the ring, but withdrew just 48 seconds into her fight against Imane Khelif. The European broke down in tears in the ring and later revealed that the power she felt from her opponent was unlike anything she’d ever felt before.

The Olympics has received a lot of backlash for sanctioning the bout between Carini and Khelif, with Jake Paul being the latest to speak out against them.

Jake took to social media to announce his displeasure at what he had just witnessed.

“This is sickening. This is a travesty,” Jake said. “Doesn’t matter what you believe. This is wrong and dangerous.”

Jake later offered Angela Carini a chance to fight on one of his cards — which would give her the chance to showcase herself on a respectable stage.

“To Angela Carini, although your dreams couldn’t come true today because of the crazy agendas that are at play in our world at the moment,” Jake said.

“I would love to offer you to fight on an MVP undercard, to show the world your talents on a fair platform and not against a man.”

After several setbacks, Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson has been confirmed for November 15. With three months until proceedings get underway, Carini may have the chance to compete on the undercard of one of the most talked about fights of the year.

There is a lot of confusion surrounding Imane Khelif and their biological gender.

Amidst the uproar, one thing remains true: Khelif did fail a gender test and was denied entry to compete in last year’s World Championships by the International Boxing Association.

Liz Carmouche | Cooper Neill, PFL

Liz Carmouche made a mistake she’d never made before at the official weigh-ins for PFL 7.

The 29-fight veteran came in one pound over the limit for her flyweight tournament semifinal bout against Taila Santos, which takes place at PFL 7 on Friday in Nashville, Tenn. Fighters are allowed an extra pound for a non-title bout, but Carmouche officially weighed in at 127 pounds.

Watch video of Carmouche’s official Thursday morning weigh-in below.

The gaffe comes with a hefty penalty as Carmouche forfeits an undisclosed percentage of her purse and enters Friday’s main card opener with a 1-pound penalty on the scorecards. Carmouche vs. Santos is to determine one half of the finals, with a tournament crown and a $ 1,000,000 prize on the line.

This marks the first time that Carmouche has ever missed weight. “Girl-Rilla” has competed at 135 and 125 pounds, memorably challenging Ronda Rousey for a bantamweight title in the first women’s fight in UFC history, and capturing Bellator’s flyweight championship in 2022.

Santos successfully made weight at 125.2 pounds.

In Friday’s other flyweight semifinal, undefeated Dakota Ditcheva fights Jena Bishop. Both fighters made weight for the co-main event encounter.

Three-division world champion Terence Crawford and undefeated WBA titleholder Israil Madrimov will take the stage later today for their Riyadh Season final press conference, streaming LIVE in the embedded video above at 4 p.m. ET. Their DAZN pay-per-view (PPV) title fight goes down this Sat. night (Aug. 3, 2024) at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles, California.

“Realistically the next step was to do a rematch with (Errol) Spence,” Crawford told Matchroom Boxing. “For whatever reason it didn’t happen, so I had to move on with my career. The ultimate goal was to try to get the Canelo (Alvarez) fight. That didn’t happen, so we went to the next best thing.”

This weekend’s card is expected to get underway at 4:30 p.m. ET with main event ring walks taking place at 11:30 p.m. ET (subject to change). Crawford is a massive -700 betting favorite over Madrimov, who clocks in at +475. “The Dream” is 11 years younger than the undefeated southpaw at 29 and sports seven knockouts in 10 wins.
