Pereira FaceTimes Paul After Getting Called Out

by Site Admin ~ July 21st, 2024

Jake Paul secured his tenth boxing victory last night (Sat., July 20, 2024) inside Amalie Arena in Tampa, Fla., stopping “The King of Violence,” Mike Perry, via technical knockout (TKO) in the sixth round (see it again here). Afterward, his confidence was sky high because he issued one of his boldest call-outs to date.

During his post-fight victory speech, “El Gallo” called out current Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Light Heavyweight champion and former Middleweight title holder, Alex Pereira, to a boxing match.

“Alex Pereira. I’m the king of this, I’m the king of this. Come over, we can make it happen, I want you Alex Pereira,” he said.

At least he’s not calling out Canelo Alvarez.

Upon catching wind of the callout, Pereira and his manager, Ed Soares, hit up Paul while he was in the ring via FaceTime. “El Gallo” entertaining the call for a bit before he hung up on the UFC Light Heavyweight champion of the world.

Pereira recently hinted at his desire to take part in a boxing match after one of the greatest Heavyweight boxers in the game, Anthony Joshua, expressed his desire to see “Poatan” lace up the gloves in the “sweet science.”

Pereira is one of the best strikers in mixed martial arts (MMA), and all he does is “knock everybody out,” Plus, he’s a former K-1 kickboxing champion, so naturally fight fans would be excited at the possibility of seeing him sleep the man once known as “The Problem Child.”

But, as is the norm, Paul is simply calling out fighters he knows he will never realistically fight, unless Pereira — who is coming off another knockout win over Jiri Prochazka — one days gets out of his UFC contract, which won’t be happening anytime soon.

What is realistic for Paul, however, is a fight against Mike Tyson, who was supposed to face the social media influencer last night before health issues forced him out of the fight. The two are scheduled to settle their business on Nov. 15, 2025 in Dallas, Texas. That is, of course, if Tyson — who just turned 58 — actually makes the walk down the ring.

Jake Paul and Mike Perry squared off on Saturday inside Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida in a boxing match that headlined the DAZN Pay-Per-View fight card.

Paul was coming off a first-round knockout win over Ryan Bourland in March. He’s 9-1 in his professional boxing career. Perry rejuvenated his career after leaving the UFC in 2021. He was signed by Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship and is undefeated in the fight promotion with wins over former UFC champions Eddie Alvarez, Anderson Silva, and Luke Rockhold. Perry last fought in April, stopping Thiago Alves in the first round.

Paul finished Perry in the sixth round after scoring multiple knockdowns throughout the fight.  With the win, he improved his record to 10-1.

Conor McGregor is not happy.

The former two-time UFC champion and BKFC co-owner erupted on social media immediately following Jake Paul’s sixth-round knockout victory over Mike Perry on Saturday.

McGregor attacked Paul as “biggest pissbag I have ever seen in my life” and tore into Perry for his performance, telling the BKFC star that he was released from the bare-knuckle boxing promotion and belittling Perry for the new hybrid rules fight organization Perry launched on Friday, Dirty Boxing Championship.

“Jake Paul is the biggest pissbag I have ever seen in my life. 40 pound weight difference, juiced out of his head, and still shitting himself in there. Nakisa you should take him to Vegas oh that’s right you could never, the athletic commission testing, real testing, real fighting. Bitch asses. You could never. And then calling out 60year old Mike Tyson fresh off an in flight medical emergency? I swear to god, a fat can of bitch piss. Most valuable pissbag.”

Hey Mike youre released and you can go and compete in your smelly dirty boxing championship thing, the smell of it, good luck. You’re fired. @bareknucklefc

McGregor added to that rant in a since-deleted tweet: “Dirty boxing championship With mma sparring gloves ? lol. Enjoy that, lad, smell ya later.”

McGregor, of course, does not have the ability to unilaterally release Perry from his BKFC contract.

Paul dominated Perry in their eight-round bout, knocking Perry down multiple times and battering the UFC veteran in a one-sided affair en route to the sixth-round stoppage.

Afterward, Paul called out both Mike Tyson for their tentatively scheduled November 15 bout as well as UFC light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira for a future match.

ESTHER LIN/MVP

Lucas Bahdi was losing in lopsided fashion until he uncorked a hellacious combination that demolished Ashton “H2O” Sylve in a potential knockout of the year contender on the Jake Paul vs. Mike Perry card from Tampa.

It was one of the most shocking finishes in recent memory with Bahdi scoring a dramatic finish after he getting dominated throughout the majority of the fight. The end came after a wild exchange saw Bahdi pop Sylve with a stiff right hand that the 20-year-old prospect just didn’t see coming.

With his opponent already dazed, Bahdi threw a vicious left hook that connected flush on the chin and sent Sylve crashing face first on the canvas. The end came at 2:27 in the sixth round.

“I knew it was going to come,” Bahdi said about the knockout. “I knew his head’s in the center all the time. He’s a great fighter. I think I stole the show tonight. I said [to him] keep your head up, kid. You’ve got a bright future. Keep at it.”

The knockout was legendary but the circumstances surrounding how it happened make it that much more impressive.

Through five plus rounds, Sylve was winning every second in every exchange, more than tripling the total number of punches landed. There were moments where it felt like Bahdi was almost too tough for his own good as he just kept eating shots but somehow refused to back down.

The momentum shifted in a hurry late in the sixth round when Sylve decided to stand in the pocked and trade with Bahdi, which is what ultimately cost him the fight.

With both fighters throwing heavy leather, it was Bahdi who landed the combination that put Sylva down and out on the canvas. It was a scary moment as Sylve laid motionless for several moments before he finally got back to a stool and eventually left the ring under his own power.

As for Bahdi, he remains undefeated after picking up the biggest win of his career and now he’s hoping for a spot on the event later this year where Paul is expected to clash with Mike Tyson in November.
