New “Notorious” fight news?!?
We all know by now that Conor McGregor’s highly anticipated return was supposed to go down earlier this month at UFC 303 against Michael Chandler; however, a broken pinky toe ruined it all. Alex Pereira went on to headline the event against Jiri Prochazka, and a violent knockout ensued.
Ever since the McGregor vs. Chandler cancellation, the promotion and UFC CEO Dana White have gone silent, with White saying he will not talk about “Notorious” until he is fully healed.
During UFC Denver last night (Sat., July 13, 2024), McGregor replied to Chandler on Twitter and said he has a new date for their fight.
“I talked to Dana today about our new date, all looking good! 24’ for sure,” McGregor wrote.

McGregor has tweeted many things that have not come true over the years, but it feels like this one could be true. If it is, hopefully, some official news will come out sooner rather than later.
Chandler seems to believe the fight will occur in September. Could it possibly be in the sphere?
Nevertheless, if McGregor is telling the truth – everyone will see his return this year.
In the meantime, check out the crazy timeline of the “McGregor vs. Chandler”-fueled drama right here.

Conor McGregor is saying all the right things to Michael Chandler in regards to the UFC re-booking their matchup. Whether or not it’s true is another story.
McGregor’s long-awaited return to action after nearly three years on the shelf was set for the main event of UFC 303 this past June. An injury forced McGregor out of the fight, which has led to numerous questions about the futures of both fighters as 2024 progresses into its second half.
On Saturday, McGregor sent Chandler some positive news in regards to their matchup, saying he had a conversation with UFC CEO Dana White and that it will definitely happen before the year is over.

Chandler, as expected, is satisfied with this update.

Ahead of September’s Noche UFC card at the Las Vegas Sphere, fans appear to have had two significant fights on the card leaked overnight during the promotion’s broadcast for their return to Denver, Colorado.
Slated to take over the Las Vegas Sphere in September for a Riyadh Season sponsored, Noche UFC card, promotional CEO, Dana White has claimed the event which comes as the organization’s second iteration of the card, would once again tribute to combat sports culture in Mexico.

Noche UFC sees Topuria vs. Holloway, O’Malley vs. Dvalishvili leaked
And while the likes of undisputed flyweight champion, Alexa Grasso and former champion, Valentina Shevchenko – who serve as coaches on The Ultimate Fighter 32 have been linked with another showdown in ‘Sin City’, last night’s French-Canadian broadcast for UFC Denver confirmed two title fights for the event.

In an apparent leaking of information, the broadcast revealed undisputed featherweight champion, Ilia Topuria would feature against former champion, Max Holloway in a title grudge fight at Noche UFC – before also revealing bantamweight kingpin, Sean O’Malley – fresh from his ESPY victory, would be taking on Merab Dvalishvili.
Sharing a distinct rivalry since their respective title fight victories this annum, Topuria and Holloway will lock horns at Noche UFC according to the promotion’s broadcast, at least – with the two battling it out on social media over the course of this month in a bid to land a date for their featherweight title affair.

As for O’Malley, the Montana native is expected to face the sternest challenge to his undisputed bantamweight crown to date following his April win over Marlon Vera – preparing to take on streaking Georgian ace, Dvalishvili.
The addition of that championship fight doubleheader would also put the brakes on a linked comeback for Conor McGregor on the same card in a welterweight reworked fight with Michael Chandler – who overnight then confirmed he would most definitely fight the MIssouri veteran before the close of 2024.
What are your thoughts on the apparent leaking of the Noche UFC card?

Rose Namajunas continued to prove herself as a threat in the flyweight division with another all-around performance to beat Tracy Cortez in the UFC Denver main event.
It was another impressive showing for the former strawweight as she largely dominated the striking and grappling exchanges throughout the fight. Namajunas’ best moment came early in the fight when she dropped Cortez to the canvas in the opening round, but she wasn’t able to get the finish and didn’t find another opening like that for the remainder of the fight.
Still, Namajunas showed off all of her skills with the judges giving her the unanimous decision win with the scorecards reading 49-46, 49-46 and 48-47 in her favor.
“I knew she was going to be really tough,” Namajunas said about Cortez. “I think I should have maybe just let her up [after the knockdown] but she was good at getting her guard. I knew her wrestling was really good. I was hesitant to wrestle too much but I just kept feeling successful there. I just kept going to it.”
Speed was the difference for Namajunas at the start of the fight as she kept launching straight punches at Cortez, who wasn’t employing much head movement in her defense. A stiff jab kept paying off with Namajunas just picking and choosing her shots until she threw that same punch followed by a hook behind it that sat Cortez down to the ground in the opening round.
Namajunas followed her to the canvas, but when she knew the finish wasn’t going to happen, the two-time strawweight champion immediately got back to her feet again.
On the restart in the second round, Cortez finally found a bit more rhythm with her striking, which also allowed her to set up a takedown attempt but she lost position rather quickly as the fighters got back up again. While Namajunas wasn’t quite as effective with her hands, she still connected with the better combinations and even managed a slick takedown of her own.
Namajunas continued to turn to her grappling to show her superiority over Cortez in every facet of the game. She maintained control, advancing to mount and then taking the back when Cortez tried to scramble free. However, from there, Namajunas wasn’t able to do much damage or snatch a submission. Still, Namajunas widened the gap in what was becoming a demoralizing night for Cortez.
As the fight moved into the final two rounds, Namajunas picked her moments by either standing on the outside and launching long-distance attacks or continuously threatening with the takedown. Even in the moments when Cortez got off first in the striking exchanges, she kept coming up just short with her punches.
Despite urging from her corner to go for broke, Cortez couldn’t put together enough damage to hurt Namajunas, who kept circling away with fast footwork and solid defense until the final horn sounded.
Overall, Namajunas has continued to acclimate herself to a new division with two straight main event wins at flyweight as she continues to work her way up the rankings. As a former UFC champion, Namajunas would obviously love to add another title to her collection … even if perhaps it’s a new belt the UFC creates for the women.
“Give me the belt, I want it,” Namajunas said. “Maybe a women’s ‘BMF,’ I don’t know.”
