Bringing you the weird and wild from the world of MMA each and every weeknight!
Welcome to Midnight Mania!
Social media influencers are 0-2 against ranked Middleweights in 2024.
Earlier this year, former champion Sean Strickland made headlines for bloodying Sneako in a UFC Performance Institute sparring session. In the video above, rising contender Khamzat Chimaev is following his lead. Chimaev takes on Russian YouTuber Litvan, whose goal was to survive a minute in the cage with “Borz.” Predictably, it didn’t go too well, and the influencer was left curled up in agony on the canvas in short fashion.
That’s all well and good, but … wasn’t Khamzat deathly ill just a few weeks ago? Fans were quick to question the timeline on social media, wondering why Khamzat was beating up YouTubers when he couldn’t meet Robert Whittaker in the Octagon. The unfortunate answer is that it’s tough to tell when exactly this was filmed, only that Litvan released a video hyping up the sparring session about two weeks ago.
One way or another, it’s bad optics.
Khamzat Chimaev’s career is in a strange place. “Borz” is clearly very talented, but after an electric start to his UFC career, his activity has fallen off a cliff. He’s fought just four times in the last four years and only once at Middleweight, which is a hard way to build momentum and lock down a 185-pound title shot. Something keeps going wrong at the last second, and now his career is stalling.
At least he’s healthy enough for Crypto scams.

Ian Machado Garry claimed during UFC 303 fight week that Michael “Venom” Page offered a Chute Boxe fighter “thousands of dollars” in an attempt to “infiltrate” the team for information, but “the Chute Boxe family is too tight.” Now, a fighter from the gym says the allegations are true.
Matheus Terra, a 25-year-old lightweight from Uberlandia, said he was approached by a person he knows that lives in London and trains in the same gym of Page. Terra was texted early in the morning on June 3, 26 days before UFC 303, with an offer to spy on Garry.
Photo via Matheus Terra“He called me and asked if I needed money,” Terra told MMA Fighting. “I thought he was going to invite me to teach seminars there or maybe fight, but he came with this offer. He wanted me to film [his training] and share Ian Garry’s gameplan with them, and they would pay me a $ 10,000 reward.”
Terra told the person he would answer via text message, so he had a way to prove the legitimacy of the attempt to Garry and Chute Boxe leader Diego Lima. MMA Fighting was provided with texts and a voice message from the conversation.
A few minutes after the call ended, Terra texted the person saying he didn’t think “it was right even though I’m not close to [Garry], he’s a member of my team. It’s about loyalty … It’s a lot of f*cking money, and I need it, but I can’t. Don’t get me wrong, brother.”
The unnamed person wrote back, saying “I knew you wouldn’t do it,” and followed up with a voice message saying, “I wasn’t even going to ask this but the man mentioned money, and I don’t know how Terra is doing with money, and how close Terra is to the guys, but that’s it. Like you said, it’s your team, and when they win, everybody wins.”
Terra said he’s not sure if Page knew about the offer, but thinks he “probably did because they train together and there’s money involved.”
On The MMA Hour, Page addressed the allegations, stating that “I haven’t been told anything” in regards to someone from his team reaching out to a member of Chute Boxe asking for video or inside information.
“I don’t need it, especially for him,” Page said. “I’m trying not to be disrespectful to him because it’s not personal at all, but I don’t feel like I needed to get any extra information to do what I know I can do — or should have done, should I say — in that last fight. It’s not necessary.”
Terra said Chute Boxe head coach Lima was “surprised” when informed of the attempt.
“[Lima] was like, ‘How can this still happen these days?’” Terra said. “He was happy to know that he can count on his fighters to not betray the team for money. Some people show lack of character when there’s money involved. Garry was very happy, too.”
Garry defeated Page via unanimous decision in Las Vegas to boost his MMA record to 15-0, and Terra hopes to have more success in 2024 as well. Terra went 3-1 as an amateur before turning pro in 2023, winning his first two bouts via first-round rear-naked choke.
“My dream is to change the life of my family through this sport,” said Terra, who is set to face Hadson Rodrigues at Jungle Fight 128 on July 20.
Terra’s father fought MMA and trained alongside Evangelista Santos in Uberlandia and introduced him to martial arts through jiu-jitsu. Terra grew up competing on the mats before deciding to make the transition to MMA in 2021.
“My dream is to be in the UFC and become champion there.”

Former two-time bantamweight champion, T.J. Dillashaw has ripped into the title aspirations of veteran light heavyweight contender, Anthony Smith, claiming the Nebraska veteran will never land himself a championship under the banner of the UFC.
Dillashaw, a former two-time undisputed bantamweight titleholder, himself called time on his storied mixed martial arts career back in 2022, dropping a second round TKO loss to fellow former divisional champion, Aljamain Sterling in a dominant defeat in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

As for Smith, the former title challenger at 205lbs failed to mount the challenge of Georgian contender, Roman Dolidze in their short-notice clash at UFC 303 at the end of last month, rebounding to the losing enclosure in a unanimous decision loss.

T.J. Dillashaw doubts Anthony Smith ever lands UFC gold
Sharing his thoughts on the much-scrutinized championship aspirations of veteran perennial contender, Smith, Angels Camp veteran, Dillashaw claimed the former would never touch UFC gold, before speculating he always “gives up” on himself.

“No, never,” T.J. Dillashaw replied on the JAXXON Podcast when asked if Anthony Smith could become champion. “Dude, he’s just not good enough. Okay, so, he gives up. Did he give himself that nickname [Lionheart] or what? He gives up in there.”
“The second round [at UFC 303], he doesn’t even try to f*cking stand up,” T.J. Dillashaw explained. “Roman’s (Dolidze) on his back, he doesn’t even try to stand up. I don’t give a sh*t, I’m fighting until I die, dog. I’m fighting with one arm, I’m doing whatever I can.”
And providing an update on his own fighting future amid links to a potential return from injury to make one final title siege, Dillashaw confirmed he would not be making a comeback to the UFC, amid complications from multiple shoulder surgeries.
“I can’t even raise my arm up in the air yet,” T.J. Dillashaw explained. “I don’t ever know if my shoulder is ever going to be the same again. It’s f*cking depressing. As a competitor, you have to be delusionally optimistic, but that’s also what got me in this position, too. It’s just gotten worse and worse from each surgery.”
Would you have liked to see T.J. Dillashaw make one final UFC run?

It wouldn’t be an overstatement to say that Ronda Rousey is one of the most popular mixed martial artists ever. After defending her Strikeforce women’s bantamweight title, she bagged the title in the UFC as well and racked up five consecutive defenses.
However, it all came crashing down when Rousey lost her title to Holly Holm via a crushing first round KO. She then returned to the Octagon after almost a year, and lost to Amanda Nunes via KO in the first again.
“Rowdy” hasn’t fought in the UFC since then and eventually signed up with the WWE which has been a bone of contention among fans to date. The former champion has opened up on situations that led to her retirement and why she avoided coming back after just two losses…
Ronda Rousey Opens Up On Struggles With Concussions That Led To UFC Retirement
Rousey recently appeared on the SHAK MMA YouTube channel and addressed her rather unexpected retirement from MMA. Tons of fans discredited her entire legacy due to this while others accused her of running away from top talents.
“Started doing, you know, Judo, at a young age, and kept getting concussions, regularly. And, you know, multiple times a year, and not being allowed to speak up or say anything about it, and um, as a fighter, you’re just not supposed to show any weakness or talk about things like that.”
“Rowdy” highlighted the ignorance towards cumulative neurological injury in sports, especially mixed martial arts. She claimed that all fighters deal with chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) as they take shots to the head, but the pace varies.
Rousey revealed her that she dealt with her first concussion at six. This naturally worsened as she fought in Strikeforce, UFC, and other MMA promotions. So, she hung up the gloves when she could no longer fight without risking long-term neurological injuries.
“You’ll never know when you take one hit too many until many decades later, but I also, I don’t think that I would be serving the sport or the division in the right way if I stuck around too long and I got to a point where I knew that I literally could not be taking those head in the packs and continue to compete at that same level.”
The former Olympic Judo medalist clarified that she didn’t want to represent women MMA when not at her best. She was silent about her concussions to not affect her transition to WWE and other projects, but has no reason to hold back any more.
