Rafael dos Anjos kept receipts, and he finally cashed in eight years later.

The former UFC lightweight champion mocked Conor McGregor dropping out of UFC 303 due to injury, which scrapped his fight against Michael Chandler on June 29. The payback from dos Anjos comes after McGregor did the same to him back in 2016 when the Brazilian was forced out of their scheduled fight at UFC 296 after he suffered a broken foot.

After he got Nate Diaz as a new opponent, McGregor took aim at dos Anjos and questioned the severity of the injury that knocked him out of their fight.

“Did you see it? It’s a bruise,” McGregor said at the time. “Ice, ibuprofen. If I jumped under an x-ray, the doctor would slap me and say what are you doing kid? Get out of here. Stop this! If you show up, you fight, you’re in, congratulations. You did it.”

After hearing that McGregor pulled out of a fight for the first time since joining the UFC roster due to an injury, dos Anjos was right there to return the favor.

“It’s just a bruise,” dos Anjos wrote. “Take some ibuprofen.”

Credit to dos Anjos holding onto that one since 2016; he finally got a chance to offer McGregor the same advice the Irish superstar offered him all those years ago.

While dos Anjos was actually dealing with a broken foot, McGregor hasn’t disclosed the injury he suffered that forced a massive change to the UFC 303 card on June 29. McGregor also hasn’t stated how long the injury may keep him sidelined and UFC hasn’t officially rescheduled the matchup with Chandler yet.

UFC 298: Whittaker v Costa
Robert Whittaker | Photo by Chris Unger/Zuffa LLC via Getty Images

Robert Whittaker has a new opponent, but the stakes in his next fight are just as high.

The former middleweight champion headlines Saturday’s UFC Saudi Arabia event against up-and-coming challenger Ikram Aliskerov. Whittaker was looking to score a statement win over Khamzat Chimaev in the hopes of earning another shot at UFC gold, but Chimaev was forced to withdraw due to illness. Aliskerov now steps into the main event spot on short notice.

In the co-main event, heavyweight slugger Sergei Pavlovich takes on Alexander Volkov in a bout that also has contender implications. Pavlovich fights for the first time since being knocked out by Tom Aspinall at UFC 295, while Volkov travels to Saudi Arabia riding a three-fight win streak.

Also on the main card, Kelvin Gastelum fights Daniel Rodriguez in a welterweight bout, featherweight prospects Muhammad Naimov and Melsik Baghdasaryan face off, and light heavyweight finishers Johnny Walker and Volkan Oezdemir open the ABC portion of the show.

‘War Room’ Leak Reveals UFC 305 Line-Up

by Site Admin ~ June 16th, 2024

We now know the UFC’s plans for the August 17th pay-per-view in Perth, Australia due to a poorly shot video of Dana White in the matchmaking ‘war room.’

The UFC has once again leaked a number of undisclosed fights due to some sloppy camerawork in the promotion’s matchmaking ‘war room.’

The ‘war room’ is where top UFC brass and matchmakers meet up to hash out who fights who when. It features a giant wall with big magnetic boards, each one dedicated to an upcoming Fight Night or pay-per-view card. If you’ve watched the UFC’s new docu-series Fight Inc. on Roku, you know all about the war room.

If you haven’t? Let’s just say one poorly shot angle in a Dana White Instagram video can reveal plans for an entire card.

That’s what happened when White announced that Conor McGregor was out of UFC 303 and Pereira vs. Prochazka 2 was in. Eagle-eyed fans noticed the magnetic board for UFC 305 on August 17th in Perth, Australia in the background. And while the full lineup was not visible, we have half of the match-ups for the entire main event.

Here’s what’s shown: one half of the main event will feature Israel Adesanya. The co-main features Song Yadong. Jack Della Maddalena, Steve Erceg, and Drakkar Klose are also listed on the card.

There’s no way Adesanya is returning against anyone other than middleweight champion Dricus Du Plessis. And Steve Erceg has been confirmed to be fighting Kai Kara-France. Dan Hooker has said he’s fighting at UFC 305 … could he be Drakkar Klose’s opponent? And No. 7 ranked bantamweight Yadong is undoubtedly fighting another top 135er, and there’s not a bad fight in the top ten.

It’s interesting to see “JDM” on there because he’s said he’s too injured to compete in August. Is the UFC still holding out hope, or are they just addicted to replacing fights last-minute at this point?

We gotta say, we like what we’re seeing for UFC 305 thus far. What do you think of the revealed line-up, Maniacs?

Anderson Silva boxed Chael Sonnen in Brazil | Wander Roberto, Spaten Fight Night

SAO PAULO — When Anderson Silva and Chael Sonnen went the distance in a five-round boxing exhibition Saturday night in Sao Paulo, Brazil, the match drew online criticism for a lack of aggressiveness from both competitors.

Silva spoke with the media shortly after the bout and was asked about the backlash.

“It was an exhibition match, and as an exhibition match, it wasn’t allowed knockouts, it was a match with no [winner],” Silva said. “It was an exhibition and I believe we put on a good show.”

National Boxing Council Brazil president Geyza Caryny told MMA Fighting in the lead-up to the event that Silva vs. Sonnen would be an exhibition but a winner would still be announced. Both fighters had their hands raised in the end.

“It was incredible, it was much more than I expected,” Silva said. “It was great to be able to put on this show for the people and my fans, to share this spot with my son [Kalyl Silva], who was a baby and already followed me, so I’m very happy,”

Silva said he plans on returning to Bahia, where he trained with boxing coach Luiz Dorea for Spaten Fight Night, to continue preparing for his next assignment.

“I have a [boxing] match in Dubai that isn’t an exhibition,” Silva said. “There’s no date yet. We’re negotiating, and I can’t say who the opponent is yet or [my manager] will kill me because the contract is in secrecy. It’s another big challenge in my life. A big challenge, indeed.”

Dustin Poirier

Dustin Poirier seems to be recovering well from the brutal beatdown he received from Islam Makhachev in front of his wife and child at UFC 302.

Despite a valiant effort, Poirier would be submitted by Makhachev in the fifth round and left the cage to console his obviously traumatized daughter. So, it seems fitting that such a father would wish some of his other “children” a sarcastic, happy Father’s Day.

Dustin Poirier

On the social media platform Instagram, Poirier would release a photoshopped image of Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler sitting on his knees, with a caption that read: “Happy Father’s Day!”

Dustin Poirier

Dustin Poirier clowns McGregor and Chandler while he recovers from Brutal UFC 302 Beat Down

The Instagram story hasn’t seemed to garner any snapbacks from McGregor or Chandler, but the picture is indeed funny.

Conor McGregor and Poirier go way back, all the way back to 2014, actually. Back then, McGregor was on his way up to superstardom, and he starched Poirier in the first round. Flash forward almost a decade later, and the two men would be solidified rivals.

gettyimages 1328082576 612x612 1 1

Dustin Poirier has since made the score 2-1 over McGregor and also picked up a victory over Chandler soon after at UFC 281. This is likely the root of why he is implying the men are his children, and in classic fashion, he has likely traumatized them as he did to his daughter at UFC 302.

All jokes aside, though, many fans did feel that Dustin Poirier’s daughter got traumatized for life that night at UFC 302. The look on her face was petrified as the camera panned to Poirier’s family, and what made it worse was that his wife had seemingly no concern for her child. The child obviously wanted to be picked up and held by her mother, but her mother practically pushed her away before her daughter forcibly buried her face into her belly, sobbing.

One can understand the mindset behind wanting your child to possibly see you attain a world championship, but on the other side of things, one must put the well-being of their child over any selfish needs or desires. Many fans also claimed that they had lost respect for the man for what he said during his post-fight interview.

In the post-fight interview, Poirier claimed that he didn’t know what he was fighting for anymore, despite failing to see that he was fighting on behalf of America that night against Russia and failed.

How do you feel about Dustin Poirier after his actions at UFC 302?
