Justice for Edmond!
Ronda Rousey had a terrible gameplan at UFC 193.
Play-by-play man Mike Goldberg, later replaced by the inimitable Jon Anik, blamed the energy-draining life of a “rock star,” to which color commentator Joe Rogan quickly interjected, “she’s getting lit up.” Turns out the real reason “Rowdy” was lumbering forward with her hands down and chin up was because opponent Holly Holm concussed her with the very first punch.
And ruined her love for apples in the process.
“The Holm fight, I didn’t really get to start my process because I literally just got hit right away, and it knocked loose all my bottom teeth and I was out on my feet from the very beginning,” Rousey said during a recent Q&A to promote her new book (transcribed by MMA Fighting). “So there wasn’t like that same kind of process of what I usually have. My process was usually, I would plan out the first exchange, and everything from then on out would be an improvisation, within the range of what I trained for specifically for that person.”
I’m sure all those “secret” pre-fight concussions didn’t help.
“For Holm, what we trained a lot [was] doing lateral, side-to-side movement to herd her towards the cage,” Rousey continued. “When I was basically out on my feet, I couldn’t see distance. There’s no depth perception when you have a bad concussion. I was completely unable to carry that out and even think coherently. I wasn’t able to operate the way that I usually do. I was constantly always trying to keep pressure on the person and keep them reacting to me at all times. That’s why you never saw me, ‘Let’s back up and do this again,’ or we’re going to back up again and come back. It was one long exchange. That was basically speed decision-making, this is what was happening.”
Losing her bantamweight title to Holm also exposed all her fake friendships.
Rousey, now 37, would return the following year against Amanda Nunes, suffering her second straight knockout loss in the UFC 207 main event. The taste of defeat was enough to send “Rowdy” into retirement where she attempted to make her way into the world of professional wrestling. Unfortunately, the rigors of WWE showmanship proved too strenuous for the Olympian, who will share more details of her journey in her “Our Fight” book.

RIO DE JANEIRO — Anderson Silva is hoping for no drama when he faces Chael Sonnen under boxing rules.
In 2010, Sonnen gave Silva one of his toughest challenges as UFC middleweight champion, forcing Silva to come back from nearly five rounds of domination to win via Hail Mary submission in the final round. Silva then won a rematch via second-round TKO in 2012, landing a brutal knee to the chest followed by punches on the ground. The two rivals now meet in a trilogy bout Saturday, this time in a boxing exhibition in the main event of Spaten Fight Night, and Silva isn’t exactly upset that Sonnen won’t be able to use his wrestling.
“The advantage is that he he can’t take me down and have five rounds to beat me,” Silva said with a laugh during his open workout media scrum in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, ahead of the five-round boxing exhibition. “He will have to beat me on the feet. He can’t catch me on the ground because it’s just boxing. That’s an advantage!”
Silva declined to give an official prediction for the bout.
“You’re creating trouble for me,” Silva said with another laugh. “I don’t know how many rounds it’s going to last, but I hope it doesn’t last long. And I hope I win.”
Silva and Sonnen are set to meet at a 216-pound catchweight. “The Spider” expects Sonnen to come prepared after working on his striking skills over two decades of MMA competition.
“This rivalry with Chael is super interesting because Chael has transformed me into a better athlete, and I’ve transformed him into a better athlete,” Silva said. “I’ve trained more. Some difficulties I had in jiu-jitsu, Chael made me work on that since he’s a wrestler, so he made me a better fighter. And I made him train more to become a better fighter.
“Even though many years have passed, and things have happened, new fighters came and other fights happened, the two fights we had will never leave the head of the fans and the new generations.”
Silva and Sonnen’s first legendary encounter is set to be inducted into the Fight Wing of the UFC Hall of Fame in late June during International Fight Week in Las Vegas.
The two share a faceoff Wednesday in Sao Paulo, and Silva expects shenanigans.
“Everybody knows Chael is controversial, so I’m not prepared for the faceoff,” Silva said, laughing again. “I don’t know what will come from that side. He’s kind of crazy.”

Despite the promotion of a UFC 303 main event featuring both Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler over the course of the weekend at the promotion’s return to Louisville, Kentucky, reports tonight have now claimed there is a sense of renewed “pessimism” for the bout between the two to take place as planned on June 29.
As per an initial report from Ariel Helwani, the organization have once more floated potential replacement and a new fight – or fights for the UFC 303 main event, with Conor McGregor’s ability to compete against Michael Chandler during International Fight Week once more called into question.

Renewed pessimism Conor McGregor faces Michael Chandler at UFC 303
“Latest on UFC 303:” Helwani posted on his official X account. “Around this time last weke, all the anxiety surrounding the UFC 303 main event seemed to dissipate. By Wednesday, no more feelers about replacements were being sent out. All systems seemed to be a go (again). Later in the week, Chandler did an interview with The Pivot about it being all good, and on Saturday UFC was promoting it again on the ABC fight night telecast. There was a scare about the fight being off and the scare appeared to be no more.”
“But since this morning, multiple sources are now saying feelers are being sent out again for June 29. for a replacement and/or new fight(s). In short, there seems to be pessimism all over again regarding the status of the 303 main event. Actually even more pessimism – it seems – than on Monday last week after the presser was cancelled at the last minute.”

“Is this insurance? Due diligence? Emergency replacement mode? Remains to be seen. It’s all developing (again). But it doesn’t appear as though we are out of the woods either way just yet. More to come, and hopefully a definitive answer one way or the other in the short order.”

As mentioned, over the course of the weekend, Chandler claimed his fight with McGregor was “happening” as scheduled at UFC 303 despite speculation, before vowing to engage in a “head-on car crash collision” with the former two-weight champion when they meet at the welterweight limit.
What are your thoughts on the developments around Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler’s fight at UFC 303?

Dana White has forever been a fan of Donald Trump. While his support is common knowledge, White recently took the time to plaster Trump with even more praise.
The former president of the United States is an avid mixed martial arts fan and has played a significant role in the rise of the sport. Still going strong at 77 years old, he can often be found receiving a standing ovation while attending big UFC pay-per-views.
Dana White has never hidden his support of Donald Trump through the good times and bad. In fact, the UFC CEO believes Trump is the greatest fighter he has ever seen.
“Number one. Number one. Take any of the greatest fighters of all time, Trump is number one,” White said during an interview with FOX News’ One Nation. “The most resilient human being that I have ever met in my life.”
“Why keep doing this, you know? You’ve got money, you’ve got a great life, you’ve got whatever. Why keep doing this?”
“The one thing I can tell you, and this is a fact, this guy loves this country, right. And he loves all Americans, regardless of what color, religion, or whatever it is.”
“He’s not a racist, he’s a good human being, and he loves America and he cares about this country. Period. End of story. If he wasn’t that type of guy, I would never even associate myself with him.”

Despite ongoing legal issues, Donald Trump still managed to make an appearance at UFC 302 less than two week’s ago.
Trump often supports his patriots during their high-stakes matchups. Sean Strickland, Colby Covington, and Jorge Masvidal are just three of the many that the 45th president of the United States has shown his support for.
