Artur Beterbiev v Dimitry Bivol: Riyadh Season - IV Crown Showdown

Artur Beterbiev is the undisputed light heavyweight champion of the world, though some might disagree with the “undisputed” tag.

The reigning WBO, IBF, and WBC champion at 175 pounds claimed the WBA title to complete his collection, defeating Dmitry Bivol by majority decision after 12 tense rounds of action. For much of the contest, Beterbiev pressed the action, but Bivol expertly countered and it wasn’t always clear who was winning the exchanges.

In the end, one judge saw the contest as a tie, while two gave the advantage to Beterbiev.

Suffice to say, the combat sports community had something to say about the result, with some disagreeing with the judges’ verdict, some being unsatisfied with the action, and others congratulating Beterbiev for his new four-belt status.

Controversial boxing star Ryan Garcia simply wrote, “Wow robbery if you ask me.”

Brandon Royval and Tatsuro Taira face off ahead of UFC Vegas 98

This is the UFC Vegas 98 live blog for Brandon Royval vs. Tatsuro Taira, the flyweight main event this Saturday in Las Vegas.

Royval recently challenged 125-pound champion Alexandre Pantoja for the belt last December. Royval fell short in his bid for flyweight gold, losing a unanimous decision, but he rebounded earlier this year with a split decision win over Brandon Moreno at UFC Mexico. That win moved Royval to No. 1 in the UFC’s flyweight rankings, keeping him in the title conversation, and a win over the surging prospect could get him another crack at gold.

One of the brightest prospects in all of MMA, Taira is only 24 years old and already among the best flyweights in the world. 6-0 since joining the UFC in 2022, Taira most recently defeated former title challenger Alex Perez back in June and now hopes to cement his own title shot with a win over another former title challenger.
