Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol went down to the wire.
In a battle to determine who is the light heavyweight division’s undisputed champion, the results weren’t exactly definitive, as Beterbiev won on two of the judges’ scorecards (116-112 and 115-113), with the third calling the fight a draw (114-114).

Judge Manuel Oliver Palomo was the dissenting score, while Glenn Feldman had it 115-113 for Beterbiev and Pawel Kardyni had it 116-112 for Beterbiev.
With the win, Beterbiev now holds light heavyweight titles from all four major boxing organizations. He entered Saturday’s contest as the WBO, IBF, and WBC champion, and claimed Bivol’s WBA belt with the decision win. He also handed Bivol his first pro loss, dropping his record to 23-1.
Beterbiev improved to 21-0, but saw his impressive knockout streak end as he went to the scorecards for the first time in his 11-year career. Afterwards, he and Bivol both said that they were open to an immediate rematch.
Conor McGregor made it a red panty night for both fighters competing in the BKFC Spain main event
Franco Tenaglia capped off the bare-knuckle promotion’s first ever event in Spain by capturing the lightweight title in an absolute war with Tony Soto across five rounds but it was the Irish superstar who blessed both men afterwards.
“What we’re going to do for these two gentlemen as well as a bonus is double their purse,” McGregor announced after the fight. “They’re getting double pay. That’s damn straight. Well done gentlemen, you are getting double pay and bonuses. Thank you for your service.”

— Bare Knuckle FC (@bareknucklefc) October 12, 2024
The massive gesture from BKFC’s newest co-owner came after Tenaglia and Soto battled it out in one of the craziest fights in the history of the promotion.
Defense went flying out of the ring as Tenaglia and Soto just constantly stepped into the pocket and blasted each other with huge combinations. Soto actually dropped Tenaglia badly in the second round with a brutal body shot and it appeared the American fighter might get a stoppage.
Instead, Tenaglia survived the round and then dished out even more punishment of his own as the fight continued. When the fight was over, Tenaglia’s face was busted up and swollen and the same could be said for Soto as the crowd in Marbella gave them a standing ovation.
In the end, the judges scored the fight twice for Tenaglia 47-45 with the third official giving it a 46-46. That was still enough for Tenaglia to get the nod by majority decision as he becomes the new BKFC lightweight champion and he also goes home with a lot more money than he expected.
“I’ve been waiting for this 10 years,” Tenaglia said after his win. “I used to fight in warehouses in the middle of nowhere but look at me now. I’m a world champion.”
In the co-main event, former boxing champion Austin Trout continued his dominant run since joining the BKFC roster as he successfully defended his welterweight title with a shutout performance over Rico Franco.
Trout scored a pair of knockdowns but just couldn’t quite put Franco away as the challenger just kept coming after him despite taking far more damage during the fight. All three judges scored the fight 50-43 in lopsided fashion as Trout moved to 3-0 in BKFC with Saturday serving as his first title defense.
In the third title fight on the card, Dave Mundell continued to run roughshod over the competition as he demolished Danny Christie with a devastating punch in the second round to end his night. Mundell nearly stopped the fight in the first round after he put Christie down early and never allowed him a second to gain any kind of momentum.
The final shot saw Christie crash to the canvas and despite his best effort to get back to his feet, the referee saw enough to stop the contest at :55 seconds into the second round.
Here are the full results for BKFC Spain:
Franco Tenaglia def. Tony Soto via majority decision (46-46, 47-45, 47-45)
Austin Trout def. Ricardo Franco via unanimous decision (50-43 x3)
David Mundell def. Danny Christie via TKO at :55 seconds, R2
Dan Chapman def. Mike Jurik via TKO at 1:26, R1
Felipe da Silva Maia def. James Lilley via TKO at 1:08, R
One of the biggest Light Heavyweight boxing matches in the sport’s history — Dmitry Bivol vs. Artur Beterbiev — goes down tonight (Sat., Oct. 12, 2024) from inside Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Follow all the incredible action LIVE right here …
As I mentioned in my article about the Dmitry Bivol vs. Artur Beterbiev start time later this afternoon (Sat., Oct. 12, 2024) from inside Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, this is a big one.
Indeed, easily one of the grandest fights in the history of the Light Heavyweight division and a glorious boxing trend we’re seeing in that the big-time fighters are getting it all in. Tyson Fury vs. Oleksandr Usyk? Bananas. Terence Crawford vs. Errol Spence? Fantastic. Dmitry Bivol vs Artur Beterbiev?
Heck yea, keep the hits coming …
This late afternoon (for most of you reading this site), streaming live on DAZN, we’ve got all of the four undisputed Light Heavyweight titles on the line when WBA champion (Bivol) takes on IBF, WBC and WBO roost-ruler (Beterbiev). Oh, and did I neglect to mention that they’re both undefeated, and Beterbiev has a perfect 20 knockouts in 20 fights?
Oh, yeah, this is a bout for the ages.
The card will stream LIVE on DAZN (simulcast on the ESPN+ digital network) with the main event starting roughly at 6 p.m. ET (full details here).
The undercard on this special has plenty of cool fights to watch if you want to tune in earlier, too. Let’s focus on undefeated Cruiserweight, Jai Opetaia, for the moment. The holder of the IBF and Rings Cruiserweight strap, the 29-year-old Aussie is a massive favorite against Brit Jack Massey. Massey isn’t exactly a slouch, holder of the European and Commonwealth Cruiserweight titles, as well as the former IBO champ. It speaks volumes to Jai’s ability and future star power that he’s such a runaway on the lines against a legitimate veteran.
We are only hours away ⌛️ from this incredible matchup‼️#BeterbievBivol | #RiyadhSeason | Oct 12, live on DAZN | @Turki_alalshikh pic.twitter.com/yt3OrErSzf

Jai Opetaia vs. Jack Massey for the IBF cruiserweight title
Round 1: Opetaia in tan and blue, Massey in red and black. Opetaia starts with a left to the body. One upstairs, but that one’s partially blocked. Opetaia moving forward aggressively here, putting Massey with his back towards the ropes and the corners. Right upstairs. There’s a right by Massey, but I don’t think it landed clean. Opetaia finding shots with both hands. “One Smack” Jack to the body. A right, too. Opetaia responds to the body.
10-9 Opetaia
Round 2: Opetaia with a counter right and a nice left to the body a couple seconds later. Opetaia feints in and then throws a good left. Two lefts to the gut. One upstairs. Massey clinches to escape the corner. Jai lands a nice short left. Massey has done nothing to earn Opetaia’s respect.
10-9 Opetaia
Round 3: Massey finally lands a nice left as Opetaia missed. Easily the best shot for him so far. Opetaia happy to hand his left, a lot to the body and occasional ones upstairs, too. Opetaia lands downstairs, leaves himself open for a counter right. Opetaia misses, evades a counter, lands a re-counter of his own. Massey stuck on the ropes and getting peppered.
10-9 Opetaia
Round 4: Right by Massey. Opetaia still putting work into the breadbasket. They get head to head, Opetaia to the belly, Massey with a right up top. Massey lands another right. Left from Massey, Opetaia pops in a right. Lovely counter to the gut by the champ, followed by a right hand a short bit later. Rights by both men.
10-9 Opetaia
Round 5: Opetaia backs Massey up to the corner and gets in a right hand. Left lands now. Massey fires off a combo, I think the left hand got in somewhat. Opetaia hits a right of his own. Opetaia right-left. Jab. Massey is bleeding from a number of cuts. Solid right hand by Opetaia stuns Massey. Opetaia with a hook around the guard.
10-9 Opetaia

Ben Whittaker left the arena in a wheelchair after suffering a leg injury when he fell out of the ring along with opponent Liam Cameron during a wild exchange on the Dmitry Bivol vs. Artur Beterbiev undercard on Saturday.
Ben Whittaker vs Liam Cameron has been stopped and can’t go on after both fighters fell over the top rope.. Whittaker seemingly injured his leg and can’t fight on #BeterbievBivol pic.twitter.com/YtNJZBp534
— BoxingEnthusiast (@BoxingEnth) October 12, 2024
The incident happened as Cameron and Whittaker were backing up towards the ropes at the end of the round. As the fighters hit the ropes, they both toppled over in a dramatic scene as the crowd in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia jumped to their feet.
The fighters crashed on the side of the ring after spilling over the ropes but while both athletes remained down momentarily, it was clear that Whittaker got the worst of it. As he got back to his feet, Whittaker was favoring his leg as he got back into the ring to receive medical attention.
It wasn’t long before Whittaker had his shoe removed with his trainers checking his leg and the fight was stopped when it was clear that the highly touted British prospect would not be able to continue.
With the fight stopped due to injury, the scorecards were gathered up to provide a decision but even that ended in some controversy.
The final scores were 58-57 for Whittaker, 58-57 for Cameron and 58-58 with the fight being declared a split draw.
The fight goes to the scorecards and it is a DRAW

A dejected Cameron left the ring after believing he did enough early in the fight to deserve the win with the broadcast team marveling over his performance while admitting that Whittaker was having a tough night at the office.
In the end none of that matters with the fight scored a split draw and Whittaker requiring medical attention after falling out of the ring.
It seems like these two are headed for a rematch in the future once Whittaker is healthy enough to compete again.
